龚世平，教授，博士生导师。长期从事濒危及特种经济动物资源保护与利用研究。主要以龟鳖类、鳄鱼、蛇蛙类等两栖爬行动物为研究对象，在物种分类、生态、遗传多样性、驯养繁育及种质资源保护与利用技术等方面进行开拓性研究。

近年来承担国家自然科学基金项目、国家重点研发计划项目子课题、省部级科技项目、国际基金项目等30余项；在《Science》、《Current Biology》、《Science of The Total Environment》、《iScience》、《Aquaculture》、《Scientific Data》、《Ecological Indicators》等国内外学术期刊发表研究论文80多篇，相关成果被《Science》、《环球时报》、CCTV-10《科教频道》等知名杂志媒体报道和评述；主编/参编专著9部；获授权国家发明专利12件；获省部级科技奖励6项，中国产学研合作创新成果奖二等奖1项。研究成果对推动我国龟鳖类等濒危动物资源的保护与利用发挥了积极作用。

兼任世界自然保护联盟物种生存委员会陆龟与淡水龟类专家组中国区副主席、农业农村部濒危水生野生动植物种科学委员会委员、中国动物学会两栖爬行学分会委员、科技部项目评审专家、中国水产流通与加工协会专家、广东省/广州市科技咨询专家、广东省高层次人才评审专家等职务。担任《Aquaculture》、《Biological Conservation》、《Science of The Total Environment》、《Integrative Zoology》、《Zoological Research》、《Scientific Data》、《Plos One》、《Zootaxa》、《Global Journal of Ecology》、《Zoological Letter》、《生物多样性》、《野生动物学报》、《动物学杂志》等学术期刊审稿专家。
