1984年9月起在兰州大学数学系基础数学专业学习，获理学学士学位，同时被推荐免试攻读硕士学位，两年后直接攻读博士学位，于1993年6月获理学博士学位。

博士毕业后到暨南大学数学系工作，历任讲师，副教授，2001年10月起任教授。2000年5月--2007年3月任数学系主任助理。2005年6月至12月在加拿大蒙特利尔大学计算机系和数学系访问。

1998年至2018年任中国人民政治协商会议广东省委员会委员，2007年至2018年任中国人民政治协商会议广东省委员会常务委员。

任民进暨南大学总支主任。

现为广东省运筹学会副理事长兼秘书长，广州工业与应用数学学会副理事长。
